We have been involved in a number of research projects examining the role of prison in the lives of offenders. Professor Ian Brunton-Smith has been collaborating with the Ministry of Justice on a longitudinal Survey of nearly 4,000 prisoners sentenced between 2005 and 2010, examining the impact of prison context on reoffending and post-release outcomes. Professor Karen Bullock has been working with the Keep Out charity to evaluate the impact of their prison based intervention programme. And Dr Daniel McCarthy and Dr Maria Adams have recently completed a 3 year ESRC project examining the experiences of the parents of young people leaving custody.
